Q or today’s thrift store (not a used book) score
I had to run a couple of errands this afternoon, some more urgent than others, and Finn decided to go along for the ride. While we were out, we stopped at the thrift store, and we both found some good books, and I found these really cool Star Trek mugs. I am having fun getting to hang out with Finn, and even though I am worn out from the long night I had last night, I am having a good day.

are you the king of anything? king of the lanes at the local bowling alley? king of the trolls? king of a clandestine land found under your floorboards? on a scale of one to ten what would you consider the likelihood of you being assassinated?(quote via stranger than fiction, image via committee for the usurpation of mumblelards)
gratuitous picture of a delicate flower (with bed head)
In our house, calling someone a “delicate flower” attributes to them the most witheringly frail degree of contemptible wimpiness, but I have to admit* my excessive sensitivity to these stupid time changes. If I were to assemble a list of optimistic responses to the imminent end of civilization as we know it, I would have to put the demise of daylight savings time near the top of the list.
*I can admit it here in this forum but never to those blond demons that I live with. One hint of weakness and they will surely attack.

We thought we would be heading to Folly Island, South Carolina this afternoon to crash in an “unrented” beach house, dispatch a message in a bottle, see my young nephew Mateo, and visit with our brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews for a couple of days.
Today, our hastily constructed holiday has come crashing down around our ears, so earlier we treated ourselves to a couple of slices of pizza at a nearby joint. Now, we are cooking some soup for dinner. Tonight, we will make pallets on the living room floor, camp out downstairs with the girls, and pretend we are on the road.
In honor of our broken travel plans, we will be watching Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for movie night, followed by as many episodes of The Simpsons season seven as it takes to get the girls to pass out.
Tomorrow, we will figure out tomorrow, but I am sure it will be something fun.

it has come to my attention that
- This small metal fragment found on the side of the road is the key to nothing, meant to fit nowhere.
- The tunnel was never completed.
- It is as if we did not meet.
