icosahedral interdimensional gateway
During a lunchtime ramble through the streets surrounding the ice cream factory, my friend and I happened upon this strangely illuminated polyhedral structure. All too well, I know the dangers such structures pose, and I warned my companion to approach it with caution, but he could not resist the lure of the unknown. As he climbed into the seat suspended at its center, I readied my camera to document his achievement, but before I could trigger the shutter, he was gone. After waiting around for a moment, I had to walk back to the ice cream factory alone. I probably would have waited around longer to see if he rematerialized, but it isn’t a great neighborhood, and there was going to be some post-lunch birthday cake back in the break room that I didn’t want to miss. If he isn’t back by Monday, I will let someone know.
The girls want to see it now, and I will eventually give in and take them, but I will tie a rope on them or something before I let them climb into it.
a shadow is falling over creation, something vast is stirring in the dark…
…time is bleeding, shapes of things once lost are moving through the veil, the darkness heralds only one thing, the end of time itself.

As Gandhi stepped aboard a train one day, one of his shoes slipped off and landed on the track. Without hesitation, Gandhi took off his other shoe and threw it back along the track to land close to the first.
When the doctor told her he could give her an injection of demerol if she had someone to drive her home, she nodded grimly, but her eyes were smiling.
I start a new gig on Monday, and I am gathering up all of the necessary tools and supplies.
Besides being able to fix nearly anything, this little beauty writes in ultraviolet ink, lights up, and makes a cool sonic screwdriver sound. The prop sonic screwdrivers used in the Doctor Who episodes aired since 2006 were actually based on the molds used for this replica, so the props are in fact replicas of a replica. I will keep it stashed in my bag until the coast is clear, but it will be good to have around in case of emergencies.
Tritovores
I am trying to think of some insect based chimeras from classical world mythologies and none immediately come to mind. Insects have certainly dominated the mythologies of the last hundred years of speculative fiction crushing whatever early lead was held by reptiles. I wonder if this is a genuine trend or just something I am imagining to justify this screenshot.
I love the aesthetic of the hyper-elaborate fly mask head combined with the off the rack tan jumpsuit (apparently the zipper is a pan-universal technology). Doctor Who does this well and so do a few other shows (Farscape!). I couldn’t effectively elaborate what it is that appeals to me, but the buttons it presses must have been installed early and deep in my brain.

Cybershade
Some copper pipe and a black ghillie suit. Classic.

Miss Mercy Hartigan - the CyberKing
Mercy Hartigan is a great villain, but her motivations require more explication than the standard Doctor Who villain and she does not receive it.
Using the conceit of the deluded human who believes he is the Doctor and does everything he can to make his world fit this delusion effectively plays on the expectations of the audience for revelations about the fate of the serial after the departure of David Tennant. This cargo-cult Doctor was full of laughs from his not-so sonic screwdriver to his hot-air TARDIS. Maybe Rosita, with the name of one companion and a striking resemblance to another, will be a future companion of the real Doctor similiar to Donna Noble’s introduction in The Runaway Bride.
It was a fun special with several great elements, but I wish they were slightly better integrated so it would have qualified as one of the classic episodes of series.
