The whole face splits open to reveal another set of eyes. The one on the stalk in the center is a special gland that vibrates to create a special calming energy field. Cool.
Bad Timing (Farscape S04E22)
Einstein
In this episode, an unnamed creature who Crichton glibly dubs “Einstein,”* explains the practical considerations of time-space travel through wormholes. They have adopted a variant of the many-worlds interpretation. My favorite recent fictional treatment of the many-worlds interpretation is Ian McDonald’s Brasyl. I don’t want to spoil it, but its treatment of the multiverse concept is very nice.
Unrealized Realities (Farscape S04E11)
*for black eyes or absence of eyeballs being used to indicate possession or alien nature see also the CyberKing. I love the aesthetic of off-the-rack special effects, but I will never <3 them.
Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan performing Aeryn’s funeral ceremony in “Season of Death”
Zhaan is portrayed by Virginia Hey who also played the Warrior Woman in “The Road Warrior”
Virginia Hey left the series soon after this episode because the blue paint was causing kidney problems and because of the social stress of keeping her eyebrows and head shaved for over two years.
Grunchlik as portrayed by Hugh Keays-Byrne in the episode “Season of Death”.
Keays-Byrne also famously played the lead villain, Toecutter, in “Mad Max”.
